GREAT!!! But ...
I own Silent War for a few days and was very impressed about the high quality of this game. It is really fun to play but there are some points you can propably change in the future. First a Quick Reference Card (or something like that) would be helpful for beginners to see the different steps during a turn. Nearly every Wargame ruleset have such a thing. And second please change the map of the Atlantic into the little sectors that were used during the WW2 to go on patrol missions like it was in the reality. Each sector can have a possibility factor to meet a target (or so). Thanks again for such a great game like Silent War. |

Let me add that I'm tickled pink at finally having Silent War in my hot little hands, and am looking forward to Steel Wolves.
As for a Sequence of Play, I've already started working on one. The basics are in place, I just want to flesh it out with a little more detail to save wear and tear on the rulebook... Give me a couple more days and I'll send it to you. --Llarry |

+1 looking forward to StW. I just finished my first Silent War subron mini-campaign and I'm hooked. I can't wait (but passing the time playing SW will help).

I am looking forward to this title also. Finally was able to get in a scenario of SW after having it a month. Been looking for a job for over a year so that has had precedence over everything else lately.
I was very impressed with the game. As mentioned above, I sequence of play chart would help matters greatly. I found myself constantly going through the rulebook to make sure I didn't miss anything as I was playing. I am sure as I play more often, it will become second nature. |

And if I may add my opinion...
Perhaps it's not necessary to repeat in the Combat Tables sheet those tables already printed in the map (i.e. Endurance, Search & Contact) and this space could be better used to list the Combat Events. Great game, BTW! |

Got my copy of Silent War today and just starting to try it out. Really looking forward to Steel Wolves. Hope that it reflects the nature of the Battle of the Atlantic and isn't just Silent War with a new map. If you were taking pre-orders for SW I would order mine today.

Re: Steel Wolves | ||

Steel Wolves will have the same basic system as Silent War, but will be an order of magnitude more intricate. Some differences will be a more detailed combat display for convoy actions, as well as varied Allied aircover by war period.
The overall play of the war will be inverse to Silent War. In the Pacific you start with poor weapons and weaker boats and grow more and more powerful with each year. In the Atlantic, while your torpedoes are almost as bad as the American's, ASW is weak, and there are tons of 'loners' with which you can rack up your scores. As time goes by however, your subs don't improve very much (until the Type XXI), while the Allied efforts make things more and more difficult. It's an unpleasant fact of life for the Germans later in the war a third of all U-boats sunk were lost on their first patrol. |

Any updates? | ||

Any updates as to how the development is going or any speculation on a release time frame?

Re: Any updates? | ||

Right now Brien and Steve are both busy with Spanish Eagles. Once they're done with that they are gong to focus all their attentions on Steel Wolves.
Release date is something I don't want to speculate on just now but we all want it to be sooner rather than later. Thanks for checking in with us Type 7. Ken at Compass |

Nice to see that Steve and Brien are at it again in this edition of the Silent War series of games. I was privileged to be a playtester for Silent War and it was a hoot. Nice experience and had fun doing it ! (This was the way I was introduced to the DTP style of gaming, thanks guys !)
Brien, Steve, if you need playtesters I would be glad to assist in any way I can. You can contact me via email at dk.kl@hotmail.com. THANKS FOR LISTENING IN ! |

Can't Wait | ||

Hi, Cn't wait for this game to come out. I have been immersed in silent war for ages and i love it. My hobby is submarine warfare in the pacific and
atlantic and i have always got my head stuck in a book concerning either one or the other. At the moment i am readin clear the bridge and U boat war patrol
both excellent.
I cannot fault silent war however a very minor change i would poibly consider is more random events.....this is not a criticism just a thought. You don't need any playtester or anything like that do you? Never done it before but willing to give something a bash! Keep up the good work |
